Panic & Excitement

It´s starting again. The Wedding Season. Days where lovers promise to be together for always and forever, where people are coming together to enjoy, celebrate and dream. One of my dearest friends from school-times is getting married next Saturday and she asked me to take some pictures. What an honour and at the same time I´m panicing a bit to capture all the precious moments. But in the end it will all be alright, the day will come to an end and a bunch of pictures will remind them of one of the best days of their lifes. I simply couldn´t resist to surf a bit online and get into the wedding mood...

All pictures you can find by googling the photographers name (directly written on the pictures above) or googling: Vintage Wedding Pictures or Best Wedding Pictures where you will find thousands of ideas on differnet websites and blogs.

A tiny cottage

This morning I was searching for some inspiration online and once again I got lost in dreaming about a small getaway (like the treehouse posting before). A place where you could just go and be and forget about all the obligations you have. On another blog I found this beautiful "Tiny Victorian Cottage" build by Sandra Foster (published originally in the New York Times Home&Garden-magazine). What facinates me most about projects like these is the fact that a perfect place doesn´t have to be huge, it just needs to be surrounded by an inspirational, quiet enviroment that provides you rest.

For more inspiration klick here and you´ll get to the blog where I found this beautiful posting.
                                                Enjoy your Sunday!

Unexpected Beauty

Sometimes you find beauty in very unexpected places. Almost three years ago I travelled to Vietnam and found beauty in cities there that I never thought finding in Asia. Very unique and places not overrun by mass-tourism. Some pictures to inspire you from my old archives:

A Treehouse

Now I found it. The treehouse I want someone to built for me in the woods close to my parents. A place where I could go and hide when life gets too stressy and wants too much from me. You know what I mean?

Rasberry Brownies

Tried out a new Brownies recipe yesterday. It was decent but not worth to share. But the pictures are worth sharing. Actually the taste wasn´t bad either ;) But I have one question for you my dear readers? Do you happen to have the perfect brownies recipe?? If so, you are more than welcome to send it to me....

Coliflower ala Julia Child

Did I ever tell you that I am impressed by Julia Childs Classic Cooking Book? I remember the night when I watched the movie Julia and Juliett the first time in Dhaka. You know, you get these really crappy versions of movies once they are just new. The longer you wait and let time pass, the better the copy you will get at the store. Anyway. It was one of the really bad quality ones where you understand half of what is being said, but you can sense it´s a good movie. I decided to watch it again when I get the chance to do so. That opportunity came in Bangkok while being on one of my "fixing my tooth"-trips and staying at a friend´s house. It was great to see the movie in a good quality and snack some finish candy. The next day, inspired by the movie, I did something I almost never do. I went to the book store and out of pure inspiration I bought the book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" from Julia Child. In Dhaka I tried out some veggie-recepies and man, I tell you only one thing: If you put enough butter and cream into any food it tastes simply awesome. Two days ago I made some coliflower according to her recipe and I promise you, it tastes mouthwatering even if you are not a great friend of coliflower.

Coliflower the Julia Child way in Ria´s words (made a bit simpler):
*Cut the Coliflower
*Boil salted water and add a quarter liter of milk and some butter
*Put the coliflower and boil about 10 minutes until it´s not too soft and not too crunchy
*Rinse the water off and eat....

Marimekko

The thing that is still missing in our dining room is a table cloth. I thought some design from Finland would be stunning. And what would be more classy than MARIMEKKO...

                                                            A few samples:

                                         more stuff on: http://www.marimekko.com/
all pictures from the above webpage

...and this HELSINKI-tray would fit into the kitchen...

Brunch

Lately I have completly fallen for BRUNCHes. It´s just a super relaxed way to start a free-day, spend quality time with friends and family. Last week I had one with my adorable uni-friends (plus lovely German-friends) and tomorrow another one is planned. To get some ideas I just surfed a bit on pintrest and I will now forward you some pins from over there... Maybe you´ll have a brunch soon with someone you love?!
